The Department of Health also collects data about different sorts of community based social care provided or organised by Local Authority Social Services Departments through the 'Referrals, Assessments and Packages of Care' statistics.

Several tables cover the different types of community based care people can get; some also show the main reason why individuals need to receive social care. Learning disabilities is one of the reasons identified.

The map linked below provides an overview of numbers receiving each sort of community based social care. These may overlap as individuals often use more than one sort.

It has maps for numbers receiving each type of care from 2005/06 to 2008/09. All the data are rates per 100,000 of the adult population, each Council with Adult Social Services Responsibility.
