Social care is help with ordinary daily living. It is organised, and sometimes provided, by local councils.
For some people it means having a special place to live where lots of care can be provided. This is called residential care.
For some people it means getting different sorts of support while living in an ordinary home with a carer or independently. This is called community based care.
